As Culinary Director of Maclean’s magazine Restaurant of the Year, Eligh’s goal is to continually lead a strong kitchen brigade to produce the consistently amazing food that has made Hawksworth a landmark restaurant in Vancouver.
Over the past four years, Chef Eligh has also been the Lead Kitchen Judge for the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship. Assisting with the project from conceptualization to what is now Canada’s premier national culinary arts competition for young Canadian chefs, Eligh will be travelling to Calgary, Toronto and Montreal alongside the team.
With over ten years of culinary experience under his belt, Kristian Eligh has continued to excel since finishing as the top apprentice of his graduating year. To date, his impressive resume includes recent tenures as opening Chef de Cuisine at Market by Jean-Georges, at the Shangri-La Hotel and also as Chef de Cuisine at Diva at the Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver. In further pursuit of his passion, he has also completed stages in an impressive collection of leading North American restaurants: Blackbird Restaurant and L₂O in Chicago; Spice Market, Perry St and Jean Georges in New York; and McCrady’s in Charleston, South Carolina, all of which continue to influence his cooking style today. Alongside the team from Hawksworth Restaurant Chef Eligh has additionally travelled to New York’s famed James Beard House and Hong Kong’s Seeva.
